Turn on disappearing message feature on WhatsApp and messenger

Social media has become an essential part of our lives, with platforms like Messenger and WhatsApp allowing us to connect with loved ones daily. However, privacy and security concerns have made many users cautious. To address these concerns, both Messenger and WhatsApp have introduced a Disappearing Messages feature. This feature automatically deletes messages after a set period, helping users protect their privacy and avoid retaining unnecessary information.

How Does It Work?

For Messenger:

In Facebook Messenger, the Disappearing Messages feature is known as Vanish Mode or Disappearing Messages. When activated, any chat conducted with a friend or family member will be removed after a specific time. When you enable Vanish Mode, a unique interface is launched where the visibility of messages is time-limited. Additionally, both the sender and recipient are notified if someone leaves the chat or takes a screenshot.

How to activate it:

To activate this feature, start by opening the conversation you wish to enable it for. Then, click on the profile icon of your friend at the top of the screen, scroll down and select the Disappearing Messages option

And then set the desired time limit for message deletion

Done. You can turn off it by choosing the off option anytime.

For WhatsApp:

On WhatsApp, the Disappearing Messages feature automatically deletes new chat messages after seven days. This feature is available for both personal and group chats; however, in group chats, only admins have the authority to enable or disable it.

How to enable it:

To enable Disappearing Messages on WhatsApp, open the conversation, click on profile of you friend, then scroll down in the profile menu, and select the Disappearing Messages option.

Finally Set the time limit, and the feature will be activated.

Advantages and Disadvantages of this feature:

Advantages:

1. Privacy Protection: Automatically deleting messages helps maintain privacy over time.

2. Data Management: Automatically erasing unnecessary messages reduces storage issues.

3. Ease of Use: The feature can be easily toggled on or off, allowing users to customize their experience.

Disadvantages:

1. Screenshot Risk: Recipients can still take screenshots even if the messages are set to disappear.

2. Accidental Deletion: Important information might be erased before the user realizes its value.

Hope you enjoy it. Bye for now.
