Convert windows 11 into Debloat
Hope everyone is well. Today, I’m back with a new tip. We know that many unnecessary apps come pre-installed with Windows 11. I refer to them as unnecessary because they mostly do not serve a purpose for us. There are various methods to remove these apps from Windows or to debloat Windows 11 after the setup. But what if you could handle this at the beginning of the Windows installation process with just two clicks? That would be convenient. Let's take a look at this trick.
The trick is quite simple. After booting your PC with a bootable USB drive, on the first screen, you will need to select an option. Choose English (United States) as the Time and Currency Format on the screen shown in the screenshot.
This completes the setup process. Now, proceed with setting up Windows as usual. You will not find any unnecessary apps on the PC after installation, and the Start Menu will be clear.
You might wonder how this works. It's not complicated. When we select a country or region, some country-specific apps are pre-installed. Since we are not selecting a specific region by choosing English (United States), no specific apps are installed.
However, keep in mind that this method cannot prevent Microsoft apps from being installed. Apps like Spotify or Instagram can only be prevented from being installed this way. If you don't use this method, some apps will appear in the Start Menu. By using this trick, those apps will not be there. However, this does not mean that the apps have not been installed; many apps will still be installed but will not appear in the Start Menu.
If you want to debloat Windows further after the setup, you will need to install apps one by one or use another app to help. The debloating should ideally be done before the installation.
To debloat after setup, first download a script from GitHub using the provided link.
Extract the script, place it on your desktop, and open PowerShell. Run the script in PowerShell and press Enter. If an error occurs like this,
open the script, copy the line,
paste it into PowerShell,
And press Enter to list all your bloatware apps.
From this list, you can identify and remove unnecessary apps. Some necessary apps will remain, so not all can be removed. Create a text file called `List` and write the package names of the apps you want to remove.
For example, if you want to remove the Your Phone app, copy its package name and write it in the text file.
Enter the package names of all the apps you want to remove.
Ensure that PowerShell is showing the user directory as the desktop. Enter `CD Desktop` and press Enter.
Now drag the script file into PowerShell and press Enter. Your selected apps will be removed.
Lastly, many third-party apps available online can help debloat Windows 11. You can use them or install a Windows ISO called TINY11, which does not come with unnecessary apps. Please let us know how you find today’s tip.
